The Story Behind Sylvest
Today, I am an entrepreneur within the property industry, running both a property management business and Sylvest, a property marketplace designed to connect property investors with quality investment opportunities and trusted deal sourcers.
Back in 2015, I was a successful Recruitment Consultant, regularly recognised as one of the top performers in the country. From the outside, everything looked great. I was winning awards, achieving strong sales results, and building a successful career. But behind the scenes, I was working long hours, commuting daily, and dealing with constant pressure and stress. Despite the success, I felt unfulfilled and unhappy. Eventually, the strain affected my wellbeing, and I realised something had to change.
I made the difficult decision to leave my full-time career in recruitment and pursue a path that had always interested me, property. There were no guarantees, but I knew I wanted more freedom, more purpose, and greater control over my future.
I immersed myself in the property industry, attending seminars, networking events, and training programmes while investing heavily in my education. I learned from some of the UK’s leading property entrepreneurs and spent years developing practical experience through property management, working with landlords, sourcing property opportunities, and building my own investment portfolio.
As I became both a property investor and a deal sourcer, I experienced the industry from both sides. As a deal sourcer, I found quality investment opportunities but struggled to gain exposure to genuine, active investors. As an investor, I realised how difficult it could be to discover quality deals from credible sources. It became clear that there was no central, trusted marketplace bringing both sides together in an efficient and transparent way.
That experience became the inspiration behind Sylvest.
Over time, I created a business and lifestyle that gave me something I valued more than anything else, freedom. Freedom to choose how I spend my time, freedom to work on projects I am passionate about, and freedom to help others achieve their property goals.
My journey taught me that success is not just about income or awards; it is about creating a life that aligns with your values while making a positive impact on others.
Sylvest is named after my late father, Sylvester, an engineer who also invested in property and inspired my passion for building long-term wealth through property investment. Naming the business after him is my way of honouring his legacy while helping others build their own.
Today, our mission is simple, to help property investors discover opportunities more efficiently and help deal sourcers connect with the right audience through a trusted, transparent marketplace. I did not create Sylvest because I saw a gap in the market. I created it because I experienced the gap myself.
